So, is Clickfunnels a CRM? Yes, you can use Clickfunnels as a CRM. Clickfunnels is best known for easily building sales funnels, but the great news is you can kill two birds with one stone with this software. Clickfunnels initially only allowed you to create sales funnels but as it grew it introduced a CRM into the platform.
As you grow your business, you need customer relationship management software to automate the management of customer data and their life cycle within your organization. This handy database software lets you and your sales team maintain customer contact and respond quickly to their questions or product needs. Keep reading to find out how to use Clickfunnels as your CRM solution.

Clickfunnels Basics
You still need no technical knowledge to use ClickFunnels for creating sales funnels nor the CRM component. Programmer/entrepreneur Russell Brunson created the software in 2014.
Besides the CRM component, since its inception, the company has added components to the software that let you create:
- Affiliate programs,
- Landing pages,
- Membership sites,
- Squeeze pages,
- Webinars,
- Order bumps, upsells, and downsells funnels.
The point-and-click program saves you from needing to hire programmers to create these websites or complex databases. You can link it to numerous payment gateways, including PayPal, Stripe, Clickbank, Infusionsoft, and Authorize.net although the PayPal function doesn’t function with One Time Offers or One Click Upsells.
Clickfunnels CRM Component
When you first open your business, you do not yet have a customer database. As you attract customers though, you need to track them. You build a database of names, addresses, emails, phones, and purchase history. You can store this in ClickFunnels.
You also need to market your business online. This requires landing pages that collect potential customer information for you. This also goes into your CRM. The ClickFunnels program automatically deposits the collected information into your database.
This database provides you with the contacts to market your business while ClickFunnels offers the funnel templates to use. You need no marketing knowledge to create these sales funnels while you would if you attempted to write them yourself. The software provides templates for 22 types of funnels, road-tested on his own business.
Combining the CRM with the templates lets you send out four classes of funnels:
- Lead Capture
- Sales
- Event
- Membership
Sales Funnel Info to CRM
The two components work hand-in-hand. Every interaction from your funnels gets logged into your CRM automatically. The potential customer shares their email on a landing page or squeeze page. From there you share a thank-you page. The CRM then begins the sales funnel process which begins the process of courting the first sale. From the software, you send emails or serve pages to each customer based upon their prior interest or interactions.
Through cookie data and the CRM, an existing lead who has already shared their email on your squeeze page does not get served a squeeze page again. Instead, they would move forward in the funnel to a two-step tripwire funnel that offers them a low-cost front-end product, then offers one or two upsell products once they add the front-end product to their cart. The order form uses upsells, downsells, and bumps to encourage the customer to add new products to the order.
Better Business Decisions with a CRM
The CRM tracks which decisions the customer chose. This data helps you better market by defining your segments. When you analyze your sales data, you learn what sells. When you analyze the customer clicks that took them to the final cart for which they paid, you learn what does not sell. This lets you pursue a “why.” You can then create an interrogative email that surveys your customers who chose one product over another to learn why. You can then integrate the information you learn back into your CRM to better serve your sales funnels.
You can also use ClickFunnels to create many other types of interactions necessary for marketing. These do not all get served online. Some you email, some you text, some you use on social media. These include:
- Facebook comments
- FAQ Blocks
- Membership pages
- Order and shipping forms
- Pricing Tables
- Progress Bars
- SMS registrations and messages
- Surveys
